This document, Ontario’s Provincial Fish Strategy: Fish for the Future, sets out a practical and strategic framework for managing Ontario’s fisheries resources from forward.
Strategic planning for Ontario’s isheries by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry began more than 40 years ago, in response to the ishery declines that occurred during the rapid economic growth of the post-World War II era. The then Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) launched its irst Strategic Plan for Ontario Fisheries (SPOF) in File Size: 3MB.

As a result, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has been reviewing its provincial policies related to baitfish and leeches.
The outcome of this provincial bait review is the proposed Strategic Policy for Bait Management. These new rules are. In Aprilthe Ontario Government launched the Provincial Fish Strategy, Fish for the Future, to provide up-to-date direction for the management of Ontario’s fish, fisheries and supporting ecosystems.
